Hamilton tops morning session

Just days after the Spanish Grand Prix, the F1 cars are back on track again – this time testing at the Paul Ricard High Tech test track in southern France. The test lasts for four days – the first two days simulate Monte Carlo, the second two days switch to a track which tries to simulate the long straights of Montreal.

Lewis Hamilton, on a high from becoming the sole championship leader at the weekend, topped the morning test times with a quickest lap of 1:01.117, just ahead of Williams driver Nico Rosberg. The Ferrari of Felipe Massa wasn’t too far behing, and he was closely tailed by Christian Klien.

James Rossiter made his testing debut in the SA07 of Super Aguri. Rossiter put in some good laps, finishing in ninth place, 1.7 seconds off the pace.
