The organisers of this year’s inaugural Korean Grand Prix have moved to dampen fears that the track will not be ready for the 24 October event.
German sources reported this morning that Hermann Tilke, the circuit’s designer, feared the track was behind its development schedule and that the race might be in jeopardy.
But the race organiser and Korea Auto Valley Operation CEO Yung Cho Chung told AUTOSPORT today that any worries were unfounded.
“The construction progress for our circuit is well ahead of its schedule and we have absolutely no issues with completion,” Cho Chung said.
“I understand that Mr. Ecclestone is quite happy with not only the progress of the track but the direction the Korean F1 race is headed and he has raised no questions and concerns.”
