French Grand Prix stewards have elected to hand Christian Albers a $6,800 fine after he disasterously left his pit stop prematurely with a fuel line still attached to his car.
After realising his mistake at the end of the pitlane, he pulled over onto the grass and retired from the race. “I think the most important thing is that the guys were OK and nobody was hurt in the accident,” Albers explained.
It doesn’t bode well for the Spyker driver as rumours circulate that Giedo van der Garde may be getting a race seat next season in the Spyker team.
