Honda line-up to remain unchanged

HondaAccording to Austrian newspaper Osterreich, Honda are planning to keep their driver line-up of Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello for the 2008 season despite neither driver managing to pick up a single point so far this year.

Reports say that Barrichello will have a new contract, whereas Button will remain with his long-term contract which he signed two years ago. It’s bad news for Christian Klien who was hoping to get back to racing next year, especially when there were plenty of rumours saying Barrichello might be retiring after 2007. Klien’s current contract only covers 2007 and he appears to be in talks with Toyota about 2008 with the Japanese squad looking unlikely to renew Ralf Schumacher’s contract after a series of disasterous races.

Johannes Klien, father and manager of Christian, is said to have approached Super Aguri for a race seat but it seems that the Japanese team are happy with their current drivers Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson, and are unlikely to be looking for another race driver.
