There is still confusion over the state of the US Grand Prix in venue – recent reports have said that construction at the site has begun after a long delay however it now appears that this was incorrect and building work is still on hold.
The local Austin American Statesman newspaper is now reporting that permits to construct buildings and grandstands on top of foundations have not even been granted.
The news was confirmed by a Travis County official, who reportedly said the authorities have “been working with circuit organisers to issue the next round of permits”, which should be happen “soon”.
Circuit officials were unavailable for comment.
