Renault targets Mercedes ahead of Canadian Grand Prix

Renault has set it sights on overhauling Mercedes GP, as the French marque continues to make astounding progress with its R30.

Throughout the season the Enstone-based operation has seen its aggressive development pay off with a number of fine results, including Robert Kubica’s marvellous podium in Monaco. As a result, team principal Eric Boullier believes that Renault must continue its hard work if it wants to challenge at the front, and expects further updates in Canada to help achieve this.

“I am eagerly looking for the next steps,” Boullier told “We have some steps for Canada, but we have to remember the track is a different in terms of the downforce level.

“However, for Valencia and Silverstone we will keep the development rate up. We can now go faster than Mercedes GP in qualifying, and that is the goal.”
