Williams garage catches fire after Spanish GP

Action at the Spanish Grand Prix was not confined to the race track. After the chequered flag had waved after Williams’first win since 2004, a major fire occurred in the British team’s garage.

Team members and fire crews fought the blaze through heavy smoke. It is believed that no-one has been seriously injured although several members of staff from Williams, Caterham and Force India are being treated in the medical centre for smoke inhalation.

“Couple of our guys got injuries, burns and maybe one broken wrist, no news on Williams guys I hope they’re ok,” wrote Caterham’s Heikki Kovalainen on Twitter.

Rumours indicated the fire could have been caused by a KERS explosion, or possibly fuel, as a burned fuel rig was pulled from the gutted garage.
