Villeneuve Denies USF1 Rumours

Former Formula One world champion Jacques Villeneuve has denied rumours that he is on the cusp of signing with the USF1 team.

Rumours have been flying all week stating that Villeneuve is looking to make a comeback into Formula 1, and he has been linked with new 2010 team USF1. Since leaving the sport, Villeneuve has been seen in a number of other motorsport disciplines including NASCAR and Speedcar however he has always admitted that he would love to return to F1.

“I m a racing driver and I always will be,” he explained to Autosprint. “That s why I m looking about myself for F1. Driving is the only thing that interests me.”

However Villeneuve has denied the links to USF1. “Is it not true at all,” he said to Auto123.com. “I have not been interview by someone from that magazine [Sport Bild]. The people from the USF1 team have not contacted me.”

USF1 team boss has also denied the rumours, stating he hasn t spoken to Villeneuve in months. “Jacques is absolutely correct,” he said. “We did chat briefly in Monaco and since then have not had a chance to talk again.”
