Vettel to test for Red Bull Racing

Red Bull Racing have confirmed that Sebastien Vettel, who has already been confirmed as one of their 2009 drivers, will be testing for the team in Jerez, Spain, later in the month.

It will be the first time the German driver has tested the RB4 since his race-seat confirmation, although it won’t be his first time in the Red Bull car – Vettel tested the RB4 at Barcelona in February when David Coulthard had to take time off through injury.

Mark Webber, who will be Vettel’s team-mate next season, is excited at the prospect of having him at the team, paricularly as Vettel has had some strong performances this season.

“You talk about short memories in F1,” Webber said to Autosport. “He had how many first lap shunts at the start of the season? Two or three good races and here we are. That is the reality of it.

“It is good, really good, and he is a very experienced youngster. There are not many of them around. Red Bull finally have the fruits of their (young driver) programme, which is great for Red Bull Racing.

“But it (the real comparisons) will start in February next year. Next year is so different and I am concentrating on myself – we have enough things to do and I am trying to get as many points as I can before the end of the year.”
