Silverstone pit wall improvements begin

Work to improve Silverstone will begin next week when the pit wall is replaced. The new pit wall will feature 10 km of steel reinforcing bars, 1000 cubic metres of concrete, 330m of debris fencing and tubular handrail, as well as movement joints to allow for thermal expansion and contraction. The new pit wall will comply fully with FIA regulations and has been built to withstand impacts from cars travelling at over 250 km/h.

Organisers are expecting the work to take around six weeks to complete, meaning that the new pit wall should be ready by the end of January.
