Schumacher to test again

Michael Schumacher will once again return to the cockpit of the F2007 this week, as he attempts to gain as much experience as possible before his return in Valencia.

Pleas to allow the seven-time world champion to test Ferrari’s F1 challenger were rejected last week by Williams and the Red Bull teams. However this has not appeared to deter Schumacher, who has once again contacted Ferrari’s historic Clienti department and organised a two day test, at his own expense.

“It is currently planned that Michael will drive Tuesday and Wednesday at Mugello,” Schumacher’s spokeswoman Sabine Kehm told German newspaper Bild, “He can again use the 2007 car belonging to [Ferrari’s] F1 Clienti, albeit on his own initiative and at his own expense.”

Kehm also confirmed that the test would be conducted as a closed session and would be the German’s last before his return to Formula One, substituting for the injured Felipe Massa.

It is hoped that the test will also alleviate any concerns regarding the fitness of Schumacher.
