Webber’s contract at Red Bull extended

Red Bull driver Mark WebberRed Bull Racing have confirmed that they have extended Mark Webber s contract meaning the Australian driver will remain with the team for the 2009 season. The contract extension is for one year and will be the third year of racing at Red Bull for Webber.

“We are delighted to confirm the extension of Mark s relationship into 2009,” Red Bull boss Christian Horner said. “It was a straightforward and short discussion process.”

“It was pretty easy,” Webber commented. “Coming here last year, I settled in quickly. We have consistently performed. It s an ambitious environment and we can be proud of our season so far.”

Red Bull have yet to announce who will be Webber s team-mate for the 2009 season current team-mate David Coulthard has recently revealed that he will be retiring from the sport at the end of this season. Many in the paddock believe that the current favourite to replace the Scotsman is Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Vettel.
