Raikkonen’s concerns

Kimi Raikkonen has admitted he has some fears over whether the engine he used in Australia will take him to the end of the Malaysian Grand Prix successfully. Raikkonen won the Australian Grand Prix with ease, however the engine spring a water leak late on in the race causing the engine temperature to rise. This has prompted some concern over whether the engine will be able to last a full race weekend.

“There is some concern,” the Finn said on the official Ferrari website. “We had a slight leakage of water during the last part of the race and the team told me to slow down, writing ‘Cool’ on the sign next to the pit lane, as the radio didn’t work because of a problem with a plug.

“Obviously we hope that the engine will make it through the whole weekend and that we don’t have to change it before qualifying. In case we had to change it, obviously it would be a bit different for us: everything would be much more difficult.”

The F2007 engine has already undergone a myriad of tests, checks and simulations. The team engineers will make a call late on Friday practice as to whether to change the engine or not.
