Raikkonen confirms engine change

Kimi Raikkonen has confirmed that he will be using a new engine for this weekend s racing at Silverstone. The news has not come as a surprise with the Ferrari team previously stating that they were considering changing his engine to avoid further problems part of the Finnish driver s exhaust came loose during the French Grand Prix, a problem which looked to cost him a race-win and which also caused some damage to the bodywork and engine of his car.

“I’ll use a new engine because the team doesn’t want to risk anything, although the rules say that you will not be punished if you have to change the engine,” Raikkonen explained.

“I’ll give it all to stay ahead in qualifying. Starting from the pole does make the race much easier, as we could see at Magny-Cours.

“I didn’t win there, but I’ve already archived the disappointment. I’ll arrive with a positive approach at Silverstone, because I know that I should have won in France.”
