Ron Dennis has denied claims that he is about to step down as McLaren’s team boss, dismissing the rumours as “complete and total fabrication”.
The McLaren chief was reported to have told Spanish newspaper El Pais that he was considering giving up his job as team boss.
“All the difficulties of the past 10 months made it difficult to make decisions about my future. But if you ask me whether I am considering taking a step back the answer is yes,” he was quoted as saying by the Spanish newspaper.
Dennis has said that he ever spoke to the news agency however, and rigorously refutes the claims that were made about him.
“I haven’t spoken to any member of the press for over three weeks,” he told reporters in Valencia. “This is the first time I have spoken to the esteemed bunch of media.
“It’s just complete and total fabrication. I don’t know where the story came from, but I haven’t spoken to anyone.”
