“It is very hard, yes…I would like a situation in which the team looks towards me,” he is quoted as saying by Spanish newspaper AS.
Piquet´s comments come in the wake of his unconvincing performances at the start of the season. But the son of three-time world champion Nelson Piquet Sr said that they could be explained by the fact that the car was developed and set-up by Alonso.
“Fernando wanted the most amount of time for testing and the team wanted it as well because they thought it was the fastest way to develop the car,” he continued.
Renault team principal Flavio Briatore also came in for criticism from his junior driver.
“He is not always right, and he can be very hard,” Piquet said. “You have to be able to ignore the bad things and absorb the good ones.”
Further news also emerged today that Piquet has not taken a pay cut despite other senior members of the team having done so as a result of the global economic downturn.
