Olympus, formally a partner of Ferrari, have changed allegiance and signed a deal to become the official supplier of photographic services for the McLaren-Mercedes team.

Olympus, a Japanese camera manufacturer, were a Ferrari sponsor up until the end of the 2007 season. The company has had a long history of partnerships in Formula One having also supported Team Lotus, Walter Wolf Racing and McLaren in the past.

The deal will see British photographer Jon Nicholson follow the McLaren team for the season, creating a record of their behind-the-scenes progress throughout the year.

“We are delighted to welcome a renowned brand such as Olympus to our partner portfolio and look forward to a long and successful co-operation,” McLaren team boss Ron Dennis said. “It is always a tremendous boost for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes when we announce a new partner and to be able to do so only a few days before the start of the new season in Australia makes it even more significant.”
