New Spanish track lined up for 2013?

The Formula One world may soon find itself visiting Mallorca, after a report revealed that officials met Bernie Ecclestone at last weekend’s European Grand Prix.

According to Autosport, speculation looms large over the future of the Valencia Street Circuit, with Mediterranean island looking to replace the venue as the second Spanish event on the F1 calendar.

The ‘Circuit of the Balearic Islands’, as it is will be known, will be designed by Spanish architects Mateo Palmer and Biel Arbona and has already received the full support of the local government.

Furthermore, the bid to get the 3.6 mile project in to Formula One will be assisted by Federico Gastaldi – one of the leading figures behind Argentina’s return to the calendar in the late 90s.
