Montreal Mayor denies 2010 Canadian GP return

Despite Bernie Ecclestone claiming that F1 will be back in Canada for 2010, the mayor of Montreal has said that negotiations are still ongoing and a deal has yet to be struck.

Ecclestone confirmed earlier this week to Motorsport Aktuell Montreal would be hosting a Formula One Grand Prix in 2010. “I promise we will be in Montreal in 2010,” he said. “Everyone in F1 loves the Canadian Grand Prix.”

However in an interview with radio station RDS, Montreal mayor Gerald Tremblay said that Ecclestone has yet to modify his previous unacceptable offer and that negotiations are still ongoing so as yet, there is no certainty that Canada will reappear on the F1 calendar next season.
