Italian Magistrate to question McLaren Management

The FIA may have concluded their investigation into McLaren and their possession of confidential documents belonging to arch-rivals Ferrari, but the Italian team continue to pursue the matter through the courts.

McLaren have confirmed that key members of their Senior Management team have been requested to travel to Modena on the 18th February to answer questions from Italian magistrates.

Magistrate Tibis wishes to interview Team Principal Ron Dennis, CEO Martin Whitmarsh, Former Chief Designer Mike Coughlan and Director of Engineering Paddy Lowe.

Giuseppe Tibis previously questioned then McLaren driver Fernando Alonso and test driver Pedro de la Rosa as ‘informed parties’ last October. During the next couple of weeks, further employees, including Managing Director Jonathan Neale and Rob Taylor (who worked under Mike Coughlan in the design team at McLaren), are likely to be called to account.

Quite how this action will affect McLarens preparation for the 2008 season remains to be seen, but it really can’t help the Woking based squad. Surely now is the time to let sleeping dogs lie and get on with the racing?
