Mansell starts 7th for LMS opener

Former F1 world champion Nigel Mansell will start seventh for tomorrow’s Paul Ricard 8 Hours – the opening round of the 2010 Le Mans Series.

The 1992 champion has teamed up with his sons, Greg and Leo, to tackle Europe’s premier Sportscar championship and judging by the pace of the Beechdean Ginetta LMP1 car, the British trio could be in for an exciting year.

However, the Mansell family had no answer for the Oreca-ran Peugeot 908 which is piloted by former-Formula One racers Oliver Panis and Stephane Sarrazin. The all-French line-up set a blistering time of 1m41.195s, around half a second faster than their nearest rival.

The race is schuduled to take place tomorrow.
