In the latest twist to this long-running saga Stefan GP looks set to miss out on a place on the 2010 grid, after having its application sensationally rejected by the sport’s governing body.
Following the news that USF1 will not race in 2010, it was widely expected that the Serbian team would be granted an entry. However in a statement tonight (Wednesday), the FIA has confirmed that USF1’s slot will not be filled in 2010 and that there will be a fresh selection process.
“The USF1 Team have indicated that they will not be in a position to participate in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship.” read the statement. “Having considered the various options, the FIA confirms that it is not possible for a replacement team to be entered for the Championship at this late stage.”
“In the coming days the FIA will announce details of a new selection process to identify candidates to fill any vacancies existing at the start of the 2011 season.”
