Kubica open-minded about his future

Robert Kubica s BMW contract runs out at the end of the 2008 season however the Polish driver says he is in no hurry to decide whether or not to stay with the team.

Kubica joined BMW s Formula One team as a test driver in 2006. After Jacques Villeneuve quit the team part-way through the season, Kubica was promoted and given a race-seat. His contract was renewed in the middle of the 2007 season, just after his huge smash in Canada. Both Kubica and the team are hoping that 2008 will be a good season, however Kubica is keeping his options open about the future.

“I have made no decision,” he said. “For sure I will work to do the best job as possible, but I think it is too early to talk about 2009. Let’s concentrate on 2008 and then we will see.

“I’ve always felt good with the team, especially at the end of 2006. 2007 was an up and down season but we have made some changes, so let’s hope 2008 will be better. As always, starting the year I would like to have a consistent strong season and everything depends on how strong the car is. I will try my best to do the best results for myself and the team.”
