Kubica Crashes Out Of Sicilian Rally

With the current Formula One season over, Robert Kubica has been trying his hand at another form of motor sport rallying. The Polish driver led his class on the opening day of the Sicilian Taormina-Messina rally, however crashed out and retired on Saturday.

Kubica, who is moving to Renault for the 2010 F1 championship, was leading the R3C class in his DP Motorsports Renault Clio R3 before he crashed into a wall and was forced to retire from the competition. It is understood that this will not be Kubica s last appearance in rallying as he is expected to competing in the Rallye de Var later this month.

Before he crashed out of the competition, Kubica commented on the WRC website, “Yesterday I did not attack; I was trying to learn about the car. Today is a longer challenge.”
