Jerez Testing – Day 3 Round-up

Robert Kubica made full use of his test on slicks, topping the timesheets on Day 3 of testing at Jerez. The BMW driver finished the day ahead of the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton who was using the standard grooved tyres. Felipe Massa finished in third on grooved tyres with the remaining seven drivers in the top ten using slick tyres.

Possibly the most interesting result was that of Michael Schumacher who took over testing duties from Kimi Raikkonen and finished the day in eighth place half a second down on Felipe Massa s time.

The day was, once again, marred by red flags with four drivers causing the flags to be waved Sebastien Vettel and Takuma Sato both had minor off-track excursions. Ralf Schumacher battered his hopes of a race-seat in Formula 1 next season in the morning, a mechanical problem saw him stop on track. Then, just before lunchtime, he crashed into the barrier at Turn 9 and it didn t end there. He went off in exactly the same place later in the afternoon and finished the day bottom of the timesheets.

The last red flag was caused by Nakajima in the Williams when his car stopped on track, leaking oil.
