Lewis Hamilton has made the perfect start to his season, grabbing victory at the Australian Grand Prix. The 23-year old Brit has said that the fifth Grand Prix win of his F1 career is his best so far.
“This win perhaps feels better than any because I feel I have improved in may areas,†Hamilton explained. “Coming into my second season, I set myself some targets and put myself under more pressure.
“I wouldn t say it is the perfect win because there s a lot of areas I cam improve but I am thinking in terms of managing my tyres, controlling my pace and confidence, and being comfortable in the car, it s the best race I ve had so far.â€
Ron Dennis had nothing but praise for the youngster. “It was faultless,†he said. “It is his discipline that makes him so good.
“Even with the most experience people in Formula 1, the most difficult place to be is leading a race because that is where a mistake can cost you so much. To lead a race and pace yourself, look after your tyres and all the other things that is when you have to really driver carefully because you are not driving 100% on the limit, and that s when you can make mistakes.â€
Hamilton is also pleased for Nico Rosberg who finished third in yesterday s race it was the first F1 podium for the German driver and Hamilton has said that sharing the podium with his friend has been a dream for a long time, ever since they raced go-karts together.
“We always said one day we wanted to be in F1, winning races and being on the podium together,†Hamilton said. “It is a childhood dream for both of us and it feels really cool!â€
