Hamilton handed fine and reprimand, but remains on Pole

Lewis Hamilton has been reprimanded by the Canadian Grand Prix Stewards, following his failure to get his McLaren to Parc Ferme at the end of qualifying.

The McLaren driver was also fined $10,000 for the incident, but will remain on pole position for tomorrow’s Grand Prix – despite exceeding the exceeding the maximum time allowed to return to the pits

Following his last qualifying effort, McLaren instructed the 25-year-old to stop out on circuit – as there was not enough fuel within the MP4-25 to make it back to the pits and then pass the FIA’s stringent tests.

Subsequently, this forced Hamilton to push his car towards the pits, a move which sent the Canadian crowd into raptures.
