Grosjean to join Renault?

Following the announcement that Nelson Piquet s services are no longer required by Renault, it is rumoured that GP2 driver Romain Grosjean will make his F1 debut in Valencia for the team, assuming their suspension is overturned.

Renault have already confirmed that Piquet will no longer be racing for the team however there has yet to be any official communications stating who will replace him. The Renault team have been given a one race suspension for allowing Fernando Alonso to return to track after his pit-stop with his right front wheel not properly attached. The team area curently appealing against the decision.

Should Renault s suspension be overturned, according to Autosport, GP2 driver Romain Grosjean is likely to step into the newly-vacant raceseat within the team. If Renault s appeal fails, Grosjean will more than likely continue with his GP2 hopes. The young French driver is currently in second place in the GP2 championship behind Nico Hulkenberg. Autosport have also reported that he has already had a seat-fitting for the R29 Formula One car and has practiced race starts in straight line testing.
