Grosjean given five place grid penalty for gearbox change

Lotus driver Romain Grosjean has been given a five-place grid slot penalty at the United States Grand Prix because of a gearbox change.

During Free Practice 1, Grosjean lost fourth gear and the Lotus team were forced to replace his gearbox ahead of qualifying. It is not the first time this season that Grosjean has had to endure a gearbox penalty – in July’s German Grand Prix, he also had a penalty for changing his gearbox.
