GP2 champion Pantano hoping for an F1 drive

2008 GP2 champion Giorgio Pantano has admitted that he his future is still unclear. The 29-year old Italian has said he would love a seat in Formula One, even just a test seat although he is looking for more than a one year deal, but would also consider other series if no F1 offer was forthcoming.

“We have to wait and see if there is any contact, see if anyone calls,” Pantano said to magazine GP Week. “If there is a good offer, I need to focus on my future. I do not want to take an opportunity just for one year I have to focus on my fuure.

“I am sure there I [the US] I can find a good seat to secure my future if there is nothing food in Formula One. I don’t want just Formula One I know I have a future so I want a good offer.”

Pantano already has some F1 experience he signed to the Jordan team in 2004 however he had a troubled season, retiring from several races and tending to qualify and finish around the back of the field.
