German Grand Prix 2010: Sunday News Round-Up

German Grand Prix stewards reprimanded Heikki Kovalainen for his part in the incident with Sauber’s Pedro de la Rosa during this afternoon’s race.

The collision happened when de la Rosa attempted to lap the Lotus driver, in the race’s closing stages.

As a result the Spaniard sustained damage to the front wing of his Sauber, with Kovalainen forced to retire.

Stewards also issued a reprimand to Force India, after a mix-up in the pitlane saw the team give each of its drivers the wrong tyres.

This left Adrian Sutil running on his team-mate’s rubber and vice versa.

Although the team immediately pitted its cars to rectify the decision, stewards felt that they had no other option but to issue the caution.

The Silverstone-based outfit will feel relieved to have not been given a harsher punishment, as under F1’s current rules the use of tyres without appropriate identification may result in a grid position penalty or exclusion from the race.”
