FIA to review F1 governance

The FIA are looking to conduct a review on the way that Formula 1 is governed. The FIA s motor sport council met for a meeting on Wednesday and after the meeting, released the following statement: “The FIA will enter into a wide-ranging consultation with the Formula 1 teams to examine plans for improved efficiency, including new technical regulations for the Championship. This will also involve a review of the governance of Formula One.”

It is believed that the last sentence of the statement is to do with the current disagreement between FIA president Max Mosley and commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone over the future control of F1. The two parties are currently not thought to be seeing eye-to-eye and the recent shock announcement of the FIA to resurrect the Formula Two series a series which would be in direct competition with the Ecclestone-supported GP2 series will not help matters between the parties.
