Ferrari change Massa’s engine

Massa MonzaFerrari are not taking any risks in Monza and have decided to change Felipe Massa’s engine ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.

The Italian squad carried out overnight checks on the Brazilian’s power plant and made the decision to replace it on Sunday morning, a team spokesman confirmed, according to autosport.com.

The move reiterates the significance of the opportunity presented to Massa as he lines up on the grid almost ten places ahead of championship leader Lewis Hamilton.

Massa will not be hit with a grid penalty however, as is the normal punishment for making changes to the car after qualifying, since drivers are allowed one ‘joker’ engine change per season.
