Fernandes: Lotus will continue to fight

Tony Fernandes has put his disappointment from Turkey behind him, and believes that Lotus will soon find themselves winners on the Formula One circuit.

Last weekend’s race saw Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli fail to finish the Turkish Grand Prix, with both drivers experiencing costly hydraulic failures while running strongly in the midfield pack.

However, the Lotus team principal believes that the outfit should be pleased with its progress so far and likened its rise to that of his own airline company, AirAsia.

“The whole team should be pleased with how far we’ve come,” Fernandes is quoted as saying by PlanetF1.com “What happened in Turkey was a low, but to be champions we have to deal with the lows, learn from them and move on.”

“It all reminds me of the early days of AirAsia.

“But we have just been awarded the title of world’s best low-cost airline for the second year running, so I know we can repeat that with this team, and one day be victorious.

“Onwards and upwards, and now we’ll focus on Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix (June 13).”
