Coulthard visits NASCAR team

Red Bull s David Coulthard is taking a short break from F1 to visit Red Bull s NASCAR team. The weekend prior to F1 s race in Montreal, the NASCAR team will be racing at a track known as the Monster Mile in Dover, Delaware and have invited Coulthard to join them as a guest.

It is only the second year of competition for the Red Bull team, who race Toyota Camrys driven by Brian Vickers and AJ Allmendinger.

Coulthard has said that he is interested in many forms of motor sport however he rarely gets the time to spectate at other race meets. “I m interested in all sorts of racing but hardly ever get a chance to see anything other than Formula 1,” he explained.

“So when Red Bull came up with the idea of shooting a promo film around their NASCAR operation on the week before the Canadian GP, it seemed like a great opportunity to go and see why this form of racing is so popular in the States.”

The team will be racing this Sunday, 1st June. Coulthard will be getting the chance to sit in on the team s pre-race engineering briefing as well as sitting in one of the Camrys and taking part in the promo film. He will then watch the “Best Buy 400”, a race so-named because it consists of 400 laps of the one-mile track.

Despite rumours that 2008 is Coulthard s final season in Formula One, Red Bull are keen to point out that the Scot is visiting the event solely to shoot a promo film and is not entertaining any thoughts of switching to the series.
