Carlin: No to F1 in 2011

British Formula 3 frontrunners Carlin has denied that it has lodged an application to join the Formula One World Championship.

With the final slot on the grid remaining underwraps, reports in the Finnish media stated that the Hampshire-based squad had emerged as possible candidates.

However, although the outfit’s ultimate ambition is to enter Grand Prix racing, team-boss Trevor Carlin has denied these reports.

“While F1 may be a long-term goal for the team, we have not submitted an application for the 2011 season, nor are we in any position to do so,” the team-boss is quoted as saying by Autosport.

“At the moment we are 100 per cent focused on our current programmes and continue to put all our efforts into winning championships and races in the junior categories.”
