Bridgestone not playing fair?

Bridgestone have denied reports that they are not treating all Formula 1 teams equally. It is rumoured that at least one team – probably Ferrari – are receiving a free supply of their tyres for 2008, whilst everyone else are having to pay up to $5 million.

A spokesperson said “Details of Bridgestone’s contracts with it’s teams are confidential. In 2007, as the single tyre supplier in Formula1, we will supply tyres according to the rules laid out by the FIA.”

The rumour has started because despite being the sole tyre supplier in 2007, existing rules allow competition. In the absense of any other tyre manufacturer, Bridgestone can have different commerical arrangements for different teams. However in 2008, Bridgestone will be supplying free tyres to all Formula 1 teams.
