Barcelona’s circuit changed

Barcelona’s Formula 1 track, Circuit de Catalunya, is to undergo some changes in order to make it safer. The second-to-last corner, more commonly referred to as the ‘Europcar corner’ has been tightened, and instead of leading into the sweeping last bend, the corner is now set at ninety degrees before joining the last bend – the ‘New Holland curve’.

Some run-off areas are also being improved by asphalting them and making them larger. The paddock itself will also be improved and made larger before the race in May 2007. All the work is due to start early in the New Year.
