Fernando Alonso took pole position in a chaotic qualifying session at the Hungaroring.
Confusion reigned as live timing failed in the final segment, creating havoc throughout the pitlane.
The Spaniard will start ahead of both Red Bull drivers, with Sebastian Vettel getting the better of Mark Webber in third.
The session was also marred by Felipe Massa who suffered a huge accident in the second section of qualifying. The Brazilian driver suffered a high speed incident at turn 4, plowing his Ferrari into the tyre barriers head on.
As shown in various television replays after the accident, Massa appeared to be struck on the helmet by a piece of debris before impact, possibly from the rear of the Brawn of Rubens Barrichello.
