Jaime Alguersuari topped the timesheets today at Jerez at lunchtime in his Toro Rosso. The Catalan was followed by Pedro de la Rosa in the Sauber and Adrian Sutil in his new Force India, in a session dogged by rain and red flags.
First of the established front runners was Felipe Massa in the Ferrari with the fourth quickest time, followed by Seb Vettel in the new Red Bull RB6. A technical glitch early in the session relegated Nico Rosberg to seventh place, Sutil stopped out on track just before 2pm and Rubens Barrichello spun his Williams causing another red flag. Lewis Hamilton languished ninth in the session, despite having done a large number of laps.
