A historic name to re-enter the sport

March Engineering have become the latest name to be associated with an entry to F1 in 2010. The organisation, a fondly-remembered part of the sport´s heritage, is thought to be on the entry list received by the FIA last Friday.

March continued to exist after its withdrawal from F1 in 1992, but ceased trading and was not active in motorsport. The team were at their peak in the mid-1970s and were widely credited with kick-starting Max Mosley´s career.

Mosley was one of the founders of the team, which entered F1 in 1970, supplying chassis to customer teams and running their own works outfit.

March started 197 grands prix, winning the 1970 Spanish, 1975 Austrian and 1976 Italian Grand Prix. It left F1 in 1992 after a dire season and financial problems hastened their demise.
