Adrian Newey again is publicly campaigning for some engine equalization for RBR's Rinnow lumps.

Newey: Engine remains Red Bull's weakness
Tuesday 16th November 2010, 23:42

Since RBR just have secured both the WDC and the WCC, I rather doubt he'll find the FIA very sympathetic to his pleas. In RBRs defence, they did try to switch to Mercedes engines for 2011 but the current Merc-powered teams blocked the attemps so it would appear RBR genuinely believe they are disadvantaged.

Complaining about the engine when they have won both championships with that engine? Newey must be hung over; RB blew everyone away for much of the season, if they had a Mercedes engine, all the other teams might as well saved their cash and stayed at home as no-one would have come close!

hes worrying about 2011 which engine power should matter more with flexi rear wings and KERS.

but he was still the fastest car for the latter half of 2009 without KERS so i guess hes just trying to get every advantage in order to dominate 2011.

 do you think that any other designer would try and do the same?

I've never taken Newey as a whiner so it seems kind of odd and like you said Jason why is he complaining after winning both championships? If they come remotely close to producing a chassis for next season like this years they should be a 'shoe-in' for being a front-runner. I'm not dispelling his arguement but I honestly believe his concern is more due to the chassis's inherent downforce rather than the power of the Renault unit.

Ah yes I forgot about the return of KERS and the flexi rear wing.

He just wants a more powerful engine so he can relax a bit and concentrate on golf!

Newey is in a place by himself in the aero world.
Still, more power equals more potential wing usage.
More down force with more power equals more wins.
Ferrari and McLaren need to come up with more HP if they want to de-thrown RB.

The biggest problem with Newey's argument is that 2010 has demonstrated the Renault engine to be more "driveable" and "tractable" ot of slower corners....this means to me that the Renault engine produces more lower-end power at the expense of high end power like the Mercedes unit

i believe thats the case, because i heard several times during the season about the top end of the mercedes, but also about the renault driveability, kubica was second on the grid in monaco which is all about ''driveablity''

Sorry Newey, you can't have everything like you had at Williams and McLaren, you never complained about the Judd in the back your March/Leyton Houses.
