Formula One related discussion.

Last night, Ewan and I met up and had an interesting chat about Formula One, and one of the issues raised was today (supposedly) being the end of an era in Formula One.

It it is not a case of whether Mosley is liked or disliked and whether he has been good or bad for Formula One over his tenure. For me, Mosley's time has come. Things have gone stale and Mosley has turned the FIA into a dictatorship, most noticeably in the last decade or so.

The matter is about who comes after him. The FIA has all the apparatus necessary for the continuation of Mosley's dictatorship and all of his supporters will still be in the FIA ensuring his wishes are carried out. But some of Mosley's henchmen are even more vicious than he is. Donnelly, for instance, is a thug and people seem genuinely afraid of him in the paddock. At the moment, his position in the FIA is not constitutional, so backed with Mosley's powers, he can do as he pleases.

Moreover, the changes that Todt wants to make are only pleasing at first sight. The creation of commissioners for each sport, rather than being a good thing, will put a lot of power into the hands of one person. And one of the people touted for the Formula One post is Donnelly.

Mosley, then, could be the lesser of the evils which might face Formula One in the near future. Regardless of who is elected, but especially if it is Todt, things will remain the same or could potentially become worse.

McLaren fan, hmmmm.

You are simply posting a raft of unsubstantiated negatives, exactly like Jackie Stewart and Vatanen.
Where are all your positive suggestions for how the FIA should be run and why they are in any way an improvement.
F1 has been developed from next to nothing by the untiring work of Max and Bernie, into one of the greatest sports spectacle's in world history.
What possible credentials has a web poster calling them self 'McLaren fan' got to criticize this obvious and huge achievment, in deference to a Finish failed Euro trough feeder who can hardly speak English?

Unsubstantiated. I think not.

And you clearly have not read my previous posts on both Ecclestone and Mosley, and obviously have never met me to find out. So, I'll briefly sum them up for you. I believe that Ecclestone and Mosley have done a hell of a lot of good for Formula One, but things have clearly gone a bit stale in recent times. It's inevitable; all ideologies run their course.

In an ideal world, both would resign now, especially Mosley, which is what he has done. My issue this evening is with the future of the sport. To me, there is nobody out there in much of a position to do a better job than them.
