From F1 Live:

Bernie Ecclestone on Saturday cast doubt on the health of Formula One's new American team for next season.

"No," he told the British broadcaster BBC in interview from Singapore when asked if he thinks 28 cars will really be ready to watch the five lights go out in Bahrain next March.

Alongside the current teams, new entrants including Manor, Campos, Malaysian-owned Lotus and Charlotte based USF1 are touted to contest the 2010 world championship.

"I think one or two might not turn up," the F1 chief executive said. "That's what I'm being told; possibly USF1 are a doubt."

I was surprised to hear him say that USF1 were the biggest doubt, it always seemed like they had more in place than all the other new teams!

It's huge money involved, I would have thought it only takes one backer to change his mind and everything goes up in the air.

I have doubts too. In fact, I hope they dont make the grid next year.

Why do you say that ? This question is coming from someone that knows nothing at all about them :hehe:

As an American race fan, we have to deal with the stereotype that we know nothing about racing and that we only turn left. I for one, am not looking forward to seeing a team hang out at the back of the grid waving the American flag. It will only further embarrass us American F1 fans.

I wouldn't say people think Americans no nothing about racing, they just aint very good at it :hehe::wink:

It would of been good to see them come over and be competative, but it doesn't look like its going to happen anyway :nono:

Would be good to see an American do well in f1 aswell for that matter. To help with the sports popularity over there.

Dont forget the American moto gp riders: Kenny Roberts Snr, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz, Kenny Roberts Jnr, and Nicky Hayden. Which amounts to 15 premier class championships from the 7 of them. i know it was a joke but its pretty dumb to say Americans dont know how to race.

That reputation will only change with success. You can't have success without a team.
