Yes Ferrari have had veto of any reg changes since 1998 :yikes: This means the FIA were contracually bound to have every F1 technical regulation approved by Ferrari!! Laughable isnt it! Especially in the light of what Ferrari and the FIA have done to other teams.

This may not be news to you but it was to me and it's quite a biggy I think!
Answers a few questons about why certain FIA decisions have gone certain ways. The rules have been bent alarmngly in Ferrari's direction , not only by bribery with money, but also by them being a party to regulation changes. All that time they have had so much advantage over their competitors. No wonder F1 is in a mess with governing like this, makes me think a breakaway certainly could do no worse. Well now Ferrari are angry because the FIA have broken their contract and are pushing through regs that Ferrari have not approved. Furthermore Ferrari no longer consider themselves contracted to the FIA until 2012 since the FIA have broken contract.
What a messy situation. And now Ferrari who have been sh**ing on the other teams for years need them to stand solid with them. And the teams have to try to do that to get rid of the bigger evils who allwed the situation to happen in the first place. Max and Bernie.

It all kind of makes fools of us fans too, who hought we were getting, if not a level playing field, at least only a slightly tilted one.

Well we finally have a reason why Ferrari got the FIA to crack-down on Michelin's tyre widths in 2003 which cost Williams and McLaren a chance of the title.

Well, we already knew they'd had veto power since at least the GPMA/FOM War, this just shows it went a bit further back.

You mean aside from the legality issues..? :P

Hmm... i thought this was already quite widely known, or at least strongly rumoured? Oh well.

I was watching the '03 review DVD the other week... Patrick Head had a massive row with Brawn in the press conference after that was announced. :yikes:

Just so we're clear, power of veto and power of direction are very different things. But this does expose Ferrari's current actions for what they are - mere self-interest.

Veto is a powerful tool!!

Veto is a powerful tool!!

Yes, it is indeed. But it's powerful like this:

FiA: We want to ban "X".
Ferrari: Ain't happening.

Rather than powerful like this:

Ferrari: Investigate/ban "Y".
FiA: Right you are!
