To be honest, the current rules are interesting enough. A point for pole position could be interesting in that it could result in teams possibly compromising their race strategy slightly to see if they can get an extra point, but I'm really not sure about it at all.

Jesus wept. It's all going very Caligula.

I think the Format of F1 in 2008 was fine... why are they changing it? The format during the Ferrari dominance era did need a bit more spice but its ok now. weve witnesed 2 of the best and exciting seasons of late, and there changing it all and to some extent ruining it :(

PLEASE STOP!

At the start, FOTA sounded like a good idea - and, to be honest, I'd rather have it than not - but some of the ideas - i.e. ones like this - have been completely silly, on a par with anything the FIA or Ecclestone have dreamed up.

You know. Roman emperor. Absolute nutjob. That's Max right now. Should be carted off to the funny farm.

Oh, I see what you mean now. Caligula was always interesting to study and was much worse than Nero. :hehe:

I bet the law of unintended consequences kicks in. Every lap there will be someone who for part of that lap will know they're coming in while other drivers are still at speed. Will the driver coming in keep the speed up and stay out of the way, or try to preserve their engine a bit? How many of the slowest drivers dropped out will be the true slowest driver, who someone who missed the apex? Or if they're going at full tilt every lap, going off. Maybe what the FIA wants is more out of place drivers.

The current system is by no means perfect but it is a lot better than the rubbish that is being dreamed up here. I honestly think that the FIA and Bernie dream up any crazy idea that they can to make sure F1 is still generating news. That way it will be in people's heads all throughout the winter

Who makes this rubbish up?? Bernie's probably wanting more safety-car/field jumbled up orientated races like Singapore was.

i'm a purist to be honest. i'm not a fan of generating artificial excitement in qualifying or the race. bring back 60 minute qualifying and scrap fuel stops

Personally, I don't mind fuel stops, for I think it adds another dimension to race. I'm disappointed that pole position has been cheapened slightly, but, again, I do feel the current regulations have added something to the mix. Formula One is a team sport, so it's nice to see all of the team be tested, from the drivers to the pit crew to those on the pit wall.
