Here is an interview with Kimi from the Finnish media, i will try my best to translate it
http://www.mtv3.fi/urheilu/f1/uutiset.s ... /11/745642

Kimi Räikkönens season ended in a disapointment when the 2007 champion ended up in 3rd in the WDC.
The WDC went to Lewis Hamilton after a tight battle with Kimi Räikkönens teammate Felipe Massa.
Räikkönen now admits that it was hard to find the motivation for the last races of the season when he couldn´t give his everything anymore. His teammate Massa was fighting for the title to the last race of the season.

-You know it that when you drive in 3rd place and can´t really do anything about it then you don´t give your everything anymore, Räikkönen admits to MTV3.

-Ofcourse if you fight for a position you fight as long as you can like in the last race(Brazil). But when you actually aren´t really allowed to overtake then it is kinda like this....

Kimi wants to forget last season now and he believes that Ferrari will be a lot better next year.

-Ofcourse it´s a different thing when you fight for the title, I think we will have a strong car next year and I think we will be able to improve says Räikkönen

And don´t bug me for typos or anything like that, atleast I tried.....

To be honest, he didn't give his best over the winter or in parts of last season. He hasn't really got anybody to blame but himself. If you don't want to test the car over the winter then you can't complain that it's not to your liking.

Even as a Raikkonen fan, I can't argue with that. He was out of sorts this season, and for the sake of his career and our viewing pleasure, I hope we see Kimi return to form in 2009. Would absolutely relish the opportunity to see Hamilton and Raikkonen head to head.

He has seemed to look like a paycheque player in the last 2 seasons. But then once on the track he seems all business. He needs to have the best car in order to win. Imagine if he's stayed at McLaren. He'd have won the title in, oh wait, he did win it. Nevermind.

I still say kimi tried his best and kimi is my favorite.

He's my favourite for sure, but I'm doubtful he tried his best all the way through this year.
At least he's doing loads of pre-season testing this time around.

I dunno what to think of Kimi. I mean, look at the very first race in australia, spun off twice. He just seems half asleep at times. But sure hes a great natural talent. I mean, Suzuka 05 says it all really. But the only race I've watched and thought woah, was Spa this year, until he messed up 2 laps to go.

But I still think Massa will out do him next year. Considering they said Kimi was slow to adapt to bridgestone tyres in 2007, how long will it take to adapt to kers, low downforce and slicks.

Probably much less time. The winter should be enough.

There were huge differences between the Michelin and Bridgestone tyres of the past five years or so. Notably the sidewalls, which gave Michelin runners a big advantage pretty much everywhere other than Indianapolis' banking (see 2005 for the example).

actually in 2003 Ferrari - Bridgestone all the sudden complained about the tyre dimensions of the Michelins after a few years of running in the that spec. so the Michelins were forcibly changed in the dying stages of the championship

Also an issue is that the fundamental principle of car design and how fast a driver is is tyres. They have the biggest impact on, say, whether a drivers' style will suit, as Raikkonen and Kovalainen found out this season (albeit there were other a couple of other factors involved in both cases).

And we all know why that was.
