I think that the technology that really made a difference was electronic and electro/mechanical. Some of it was what would now be considered green (ish). I'm thinking of the TAG developed fuel injection system and the fuel delivary system. Also the Mclaren electronic leaps forward developed by Zucker at TAG/Mclaren Electronics. The TAG 2.12 for instance which could set absolute stop. But of course it was all McLaren driven and did not assist Ferrari to win so had to be killed off in sweeping and continual rule changes to dumb down F1. Ron's thoughtful ideas on how these continual rule changes (seemingly to benifit the smaller teams and reduce costs but actualy to keep the playing field in peak condition for Ferrari in reality cost more in terms of resources and mean that the smaller teams constantly play catch up even more.

We got a post hacker, is that legal? Sorry he's a FIAt supporter so I suppose it's just a technicality.

That FIAt thing really winds you guys up eh? Are you asking me to censor myself just so that you can feel better? My my let me consider your request for a moment.........No Chance. Not until Mosely goes, Bernie stops pulling the strings in your favour and Ferrari admit collusion. Until then it's a FIAt to me

It's just me messing around bro that's all, I wont do it anymore ok I dont wanna make you cry. It's not a technicality either as the burden lie's upon your shoulder's with the 5th grade mentality of posting FIAT in everyone of your post.

Subject of this thread now is not if F1 is technologically evolving but if phren is evolving beyond a Cromagnum mentality, survey say's "I doint think so"!

Really? thats cool!
youd be surprised but i have a real interest in biology and in perticular Palaentology. Im even a member of the National Geographic :D
the Evolution of birds got me as a teenager so interesting the link between theropod dino's and birds with all the fossil finds coming from China over tha past decade. Has really changed the text books! though again you get the scientists who disagree with hard facts, like feathered dinosaurs which have been found :lol:

No doubt that pollution has caused some kind of effect on weather patterns (we have got 2 inches of snow in the middle spring!) but it is no point the FIA imposing top many green sanctions because until china, india, russia etc. fall in line with green treaty's. Making F1 green will have minimal if no impact on the state of global warming.

Agreed, but it's the role model effect. Also, if BE would put the hammer down and said: no F1 race in your country until you meet certain green criteria, you might see some big changes...

i think your giving bernie to much credit. Since when does the state of the planet supersede his desire to make money? :?

Even if the world does implement various green measures to cut down on carbon emissions, we will still have a reasonable amount of carbon dioxide etc. going into the air. This is the 21st century, so we can't turn back the clock hundreds of years and emit negligible amounts of carbon. In that case, motor sport still would not be producing significant amounts of carbon relative to the bigger picture, as it were, (and I suppose this could be extended to non-renewable forms of energy (i.e. petrol), so I still think Formula One and other well-known brands of motor sport could be preserved. The role model effect has a lot of truth at the minute, I'll admit, but I think people should be made aware, as I said before, there is difference between the trappings of change and the substance of change. (Also, much bigger role models come in the form of governments and huge companies. At the minute, as I also said, we're getting taken for a ride in Britain when it comes to climate change; the whole process is being used to raise extra taxes for governments and profits for big business; none of the green charges are being used on green issues. I also don't see too many governments being as eager to deal with other pressing environmental matters that aren't quite so lucrative. How is that just and an incentive to green?)

The thing with F1 is that it has become increasingly difficult for some government officals all over the world to justify the kind of expenses the F1 circus implies. So in Australia, for example, even if the GP was losing money, I'm sure the whole exposure of the F1 circus could be used to emphasize some relevant political issues, which in the end could help politicians find alternative ways (to convince their respective populations) to fund these racing events. On top of that, F1 showcases some of the world's largest companies, so their statements and examples are seen and felt all over the world.

Sure, the whole green thing has become more of a trend. But almost everything that falls into the hands of politicians becomes talk and a battle of economic interests... but hundreds of scientists all over the world agree we are severely damaging the environment. And as passionate as they may sound, one thing most scientist have in common is that they maintain their principles before their economic interests.

Bottom line: I don't think racing would lose its appeal if greener technologies are developed; because to the fans what really matters is how fast each driver/car is vs the other, not which fuel they are using or how much emissions they are sending to the air.

I'm with you as racing is the least contributing form of emission's. Heck the higher the octane used the cleaner it burn's if memory serve's me?

yeah thats right, remember the "green" adverts for 98 RON fuel. its still not all that green just in comparison to the 90 and 95 RON it is

just for info's sake, F1 this year has a percentage of biofuel in their fuel mixture something like 8% or something low cant remember the exact figure
