Explains why I am getting direct messages asking me to join other F1 forums. The level of ignorance and lack of proper debate is shown clearly in this thread alone.

A shame I remember when this forum was much busier and nicer place to chat with fellow F1 fans.

^This is what you brought into the discussion.

Perhaps if you expand on you first comment we can understand your position a bit better. All we have to go on is a rather cryptic comparison to this forum, an issue which I am sure didn't sway many votes.

From the vantage point across the Atlantic it seems to be a mistake for the UK to leave the EU, kind of the tail wagging the much larger dog.

The experience in Canada was the threat of Quebec to leave our federation. This uncertainty caused major issues for the province of Quebec and especially Montreal which went from the largest city in Canada to a distant second as money, the Financial District, and almost all the corporate HQ's left for Toronto which is now the centre of the universe. Just ask any of them there and they will confirm that the universe rotates around TO  We avoided the split and saved ourselves alot more grief.

London will suffer as it looses its grip as the Financial hub, Germany is poised to take on that role which will be a huge blow to the UK as all that power and jobs leave.

It is good for us over here in NA though as we may be able to benefit from picking up some of that lost trade. We in Canada have a shiny new trade deal with the EU and the Americans are always very competitive with their business might.

Also the whole Scottish independence thing is very dangerous to stability and the economy. More bad news if that moves ahead.

London will still be a financial hub, a few jobs maybe moved by the banks but all of them plan to remain in London.

This isn't about the self centred little bubble that is London anyway, the rest of the country has suffered because of the EU. Industries in this country have suffered as the EU decided to do

Short term there will be uncertainty but long term we will fair better being out of the EU with our own deal in place. Its not like we are going to stop everything we do with the EU anyway. Trade will still happen and so will migration. Only difference is we won't be being dictated to by the EU.

Long term we should be fine as there is now uncertainty across the EU with other countries threatening to leave.

Everyone is "suffering" as jobs are contracted out to countries where unions don't exist and working conditions are deplorable.
The problem is that those of us who work here want to make a good/competitive wage; but, don't want to pay for the products that factor those wages into their prices.
We can't have it both ways.

The divorce has to happen before the new deals and divorces are ugly. Getting new deals that approach what was given up will be hard to accomplish and could take many years. Unfortunately a great deal of what will be the UK's economic future is in the hands of the UK's former EU partners.

Apart from its not as we buy more from EU countries than they buy from us and I doubt countries in the EU will want to us to start shopping elsewhere. The divorce can be amicable where relations are kept or it can be nasty where everyone bites their nose off to spite their face.

All Brexit will do now is cause a domino effect and other countries will want to leave. The EU was a good idea back in the 1970s when it was more of a trade agreement but its become something else. Its almost become like FIFA where it thinks it has all the power and no country can live without it.

Well you can always hope for that - a general recession/depression in Europe as the EU breaks up. The UK can at least claim that they aren't the worst off!

It will make Germany stronger though as they prey on the smaller states.

How is that any different to what Germany is doing already within the EU? :D

Germany will be there take over from UK/London as the financial hub as well. They would dominate Europe.

Ultimately, we'll have to wait and see; for all the bluster about leaving the EU; no-one is in any rush to invoke article 50 and now a stay candidate is prime minister, it may never happen.

Invoking article 50 is suicide. Not invoking article 50 is suicide!

The UK needs to apologize to the EU and beg to be allowed to stay.

To be honest, I was surprised that it was even put up for public vote; America would never have a public vote for such things. The public elect a government to represent them; not have a vote every time an issue comes up. The public can not make an informed decision, they tend to be easily swayed by propaganda, which was the case with Brexit.

It's called direct democracy and the Swiss are the champions of this kind of political obstructionism - one reason I left Switzerland, though I'm still voting 3 times a year about all kinds of issues the Swiss voters decide.

It's ww3 over at the other place. The toys are out of the prams.

Imagine that RC left to defend a certain thicko but now is getting a taste of the illogic and insult. The irony.
