I'm a very good guesser.
NBCSports Carlos Sainz Jr. has confirmed that he will be racing with #55 in Formula 1 next season when he makes his debut for Scuderia Toro Rosso.
Sainz Jr. was announced as the team’s second driver on Friday, partnering Max Verstappen in 2015 to form the youngest driver line-up in the history of Formula 1.
The Spaniard won the Formula Renault 3.5 championship with relative ease in 2014, but faced stiff competition from Jean-Eric Vergne, Alex Lynn and Pierre Gasly for the second seat at Toro Rosso.
However, a successful test for Red Bull in Abu Dhabi earlier this week convinced the team’s management that he was ready for Formula 1, and in a press conference yesterday, he confirmed that he will be using #55 for his F1 career.
As per the new sporting regulations for 2014, drivers are required to pick a number for their F1 debut that they will use throughout their careers.
